Custom sealing rubber

Rubber for uPVC window frames

Click-in and groove rubber that fits your uPVC system (VEKA, Deceuninck, Kömmerling), in the right colour, supplied to measure in EPDM or TPE.

uPVC frames use self-clamping rubber with a foot that clicks into the groove of the profile: rebate, overlap and glazing rubber. It must match both the system or profile number (such as VEKA, Deceuninck or Kömmerling) and the colour. DG Rubber Profiles supplies this to measure, including for older uPVC systems whose rubber is no longer available.

Which rubber for uPVC frames?

The hallmark of uPVC is click-in fitting: the rubber has a foot that clamps itself into a groove in the profile, unlike the roll-in method for aluminium or the glazing bead for timber. Some profiles are adjustable in height (peelable).

EPDM is the standard (UV-resistant, black). TPE is a popular choice when a colour match is needed. With uPVC, the colour (white, cream, grey) is often visible and therefore a real purchasing criterion.

Types of uPVC frame rubber

  • Rebate rubber: in the fixed frame, for wind tightness.
  • Overlap rubber: specifically for tilt-and-turn windows.
  • Glazing/glass rubber: between the glass and the profile.
  • Centre seal: an additional sealing plane in the profile.

System and colour match

Match the rubber to the profile number of your system (VEKA, Deceuninck, Kömmerling, Aluplast) and to the colour. Find the number on the profile or send us a piece of old rubber; we will determine the right profile and colour.

Loose click-in or bonded?

If the rubber is clicked loosely into the groove, you can easily replace it yourself. If it is bonded or welded at the corners, that is skilled work. Signs that replacement is needed: a cold draught, crumbling or marking rubber, and cracks in the corners.

Made to measure for obsolete uPVC systems

The original rubber for older uPVC systems is often no longer available. We reproduce the profile to measure by extrusion, in the right shape, hardness and colour. Request a quote or view our window seals.

Frequently asked questions

How do I replace the rubber seals in my uPVC frame?

Pull the old rubber out of the groove, clean the groove and press in the new click-in rubber without stretching it; join the corners neatly.

Which rubber for a VEKA, Deceuninck or Kömmerling frame?

Search by profile number or take a piece with you. Choose a profile that matches both the system and the colour.

Can I replace frame seals myself?

Yes, if they click loosely into the groove. Do not attempt this with bonded rubbers or rubbers welded at the corners; that is skilled work.

What does it cost to replace the seals in uPVC frames?

That depends on the system, the quantity and whether you fit it yourself. As a manufacturer we supply custom rubber by the roll; request a quote for a price based on your profile.

How often do uPVC frame seals need replacing?

On average after 10 to 15 years, and with annual maintenance after about 20 years.

My uPVC frame is draughty, how do I test the seal?

Do the paper test: trap a sheet of paper between the window and frame and close the window. If the paper slides out freely, the seal is no longer closing properly.

Why is my frame rubber leaving black marks?

Carbon black EPDM can leave marks as it ages. Carbon-free TPE/SEBS prevents marking and discolouration.
